Unix/Linux, NT/Windows 2000, and VMS system administrators will need to certify their systems as secure before connecting their systems to TTUnet and before communications traffic will be allowed to flow from the computer through the firewall filter to/from the Internet.  Maintaining a secure, up-to-date server is the responsibility of the administrator and the department in which the system resides

Steps for requesting Internet access.

1. Carefully install the operating system and only the needed services
2. Check the OS vendors security patches and keep them up-to-date
3. Fill out the Computing System Certification Form when you are ready to attest that your server is secured
4. Return the signed form to the Network Operations Center, and you will be contacted via e-mail when the firewall settings have been implemented.
