Configuring Windows
2000 VPN Clients |

Please print out these instructions and
follow the steps on your computer.
NOTE: PLEASE DO NOT MAKE ANY OTHER CHANGES TO YOUR
CONFIGURATION THAN THOSE SPECIFIED IN THESE INSTRUCTIONS.
Illustrated instructions
- From the Start Menu, choose Settings.
Then choose Network and Dial-up Connections and select Make New
Connection.
- The Network Connection Wizard will appear. Click the Next
button.
- Choose Connect to a private network through the Internet,
and click the Next button.
- Type vpn.ttu.edu in Hostname field, and then click
the Next button.
- If you want this connection to be made available to all users on
your network, check For all users, otherwise check Only for myself. Then
click the Next button.
- Type TTUnet VPN in the name field
for this connection. Check the Add a shortcut to my desktop if you
desire. Click the finish button.
- In the Connect to TTUnet VPN dialog box,
enter your eRaider username and eRaider
password and click the Properties
button.
- Click on the Security Tab. Select Typical settings,
Require secure password, and Require data encryption.
Click on the Networking tab. Set the Type of VPN
server to Point to Point Tunneling Protocol (PPTP). Note: Perform
the following steps through Step 12 only if you are on a Cable Modem, DSL, or using any
other non-Texas Tech service provider for your commercial Internet service. Otherwise go
to Step 13. Select Intenet Protocol and click on the Properties
button.
Check Obtain an IP address automatically
and Obtain DNS server address automtically. Click on the Advanced
button.
Uncheck Use default gateway on remote
network. Click the OK button.
Click the OK button.
Click the OK button.
- Click the Connect button. When connected you will
see a connection icon in the bottom right-hand corner of your screen.
- From the Start Menu, choose Settings.
Then choose Network and Dial-up Connections and select Make New
Connection.
- The Network Connection Wizard will appear. Click the Next
button.

- Choose Connect to a private network through the Internet,
and click the Next button.

- Type vpn.ttu.edu in Hostname field, and then click
the Next button.

- If you want this connection to be made available to all users on
your network, check For all users, otherwise check Only for myself. Then
click the Next button.

- Type TTUnet VPN in the name field
for this connection. Check the Add a shortcut to my desktop if you
desire. Click the finish button.

- In the Connect to TTUnet VPN dialog box, enter your eRaider username and eRaider
password and click the Properties
button.

- Click on the Security Tab. Select Typical settings,
Require secure password, and Require data encryption.

- Click on the Networking tab. Set the Type of VPN server to Point
to Point Tunneling Protocol (PPTP). Note: Perform the following steps
through Step 12 only if you are on a Cable Modem, DSL, or using any other non-Texas Tech
service provider for your commercial Internet service. Otherwise go to Step 13.
Select Intenet Protocol and click on the Properties
button.

Click the OK button.

- Click the OK button.

- Click the OK button.

- Click the Connect button. When connected you will
