Configuring Windows 9X
VPN Clients |

Please print out these instructions and
follow the steps on your computer.
NOTE: PLEASE DO NOT MAKE ANY OTHER CHANGES TO YOUR
CONFIGURATION THAN THOSE SPECIFIED IN THESE INSTRUCTIONS.
Illustrated instructions
- Open up the Control Panel.
- Go to the Network Control Panel.
- In the Network Control Panel press the Add button.
- Select Adapter and press the Add
button.
- Select Microsoft in the Manufactures window. Then
select Microsoft Virtual Private Networking Adapter in the Network
adapters window. Press the OK button.
- Press the OK button. The computer may prompt you
for the Windows 9X CD.
- When finished the computer will prompt you to restart the computer.
Press Yes.
- Double-click the My Computer icon.
- Double-click the Dial-Up Networking icon.
- Double-click on the Make New Connection icon
- Type TTUnet VPN in the name box and select Microsoft
VPN Adapter in the device box, then click the Next> button.
- Enter the Hostname vpn.ttu.edu, then click the Next>
button.
- Click on the Finish button.
- Right-Click on the TTUnet VPN icon and select Properties.
- Click on the Server Types tab. Check Log
on to Network, Enable software compression, Require
encrypted password, Require data encryption, and TCP/IP.
Uncheck Record a log file for this connection, NetBEUI,
and IPX/SPX Compatible.
Note:
Perform the following steps through Step 16 only if you are on a Cable Modem, DSL, or
using any other non-Texas Tech service provider for your commercial Internet service.
Otherwise go to Step 17. Click on
TCP/IP Settings.
- Check Server assigned IP address, Server assigned name server
addresses, and Use IP header compression. Uncheck Use
default gateway on remote network. Click on the OK button.
- Click on the OK button.
- Double click the TTUnet VPN icon.
- In the username box
enter
your eRaider username and eRaider password in the password box. Click on the connect
button.
- When connected you will see a connection icon in the bottom
right-hand corner of your screen.
- Open up the Control Panel.

- Go to the Network Control Panel.

- In the Network Control Panel press the Add button.

- Select Adapter and press the Add
button.

- Select Microsoft in the Manufactures window. Then
select Microsoft Virtual Private Networking Adapter in the Network
adapters window. Press the OK button.

- Press the OK button. The computer may prompt you
for the Windows 9X CD.
- When finished the computer will prompt you to restart the computer.
Press Yes.

- Double-click the My Computer icon.
- Double-click the Dial-Up Networking icon.

- Double-click on the Make New Connection icon.

- Type TTUnet VPN in the name box and select Microsoft
VPN Adapter in the device box, then click the Next> button.

- Enter the Hostname vpn.ttu.edu, then click the Next>
button.

- Click on the Finish button.

- Right-Click on the TTUnet VPN icon and select Properties.

- Click on the Server Types tab. Check Log
on to Network, Enable software compression, Require
encrypted password, Require data encryption, and TCP/IP.
Uncheck Record a log file for this connection, NetBEUI,
and IPX/SPX Compatible. Note:

your eRaider username and eRaider password in the password box. Click on the connect button.
